Hey there, Sisterfriend! Can you believe we're getting close to the end of 2024? If you’re anything like me, you're already thinking about what the new year holds and how you can walk even closer to God’s plan for your life. But here’s the thing: setting goals isn't just about making a list of what you want—it's about tuning in to what God wants for you.
In this post, we’re going to talk about how to set Spirit-led goals that align with God’s purpose for your life. Let’s make 2025 the year where we stop striving and start thriving in His will!
1. Start with Prayer
Before we even start talking about goals, the first thing we need to do is seek God. Spend some time in prayer, asking Him to reveal His plans for you in 2025. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God knows the plans He has for us—so let’s tap into that wisdom from the start.
Take a few moments to reflect on where you are right now, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in setting goals that will grow you spiritually, personally, and even in your finances.
Daily Tip: Set aside 10-15 minutes each morning to pray about the upcoming year. Listen for God’s direction on the areas He wants you to focus on, and jot down anything He reveals to you.
2. Reflect on 2024
You know what they say—sometimes you have to look back to move forward. Take some time to reflect on 2024. What were the wins? What were the lessons learned? How did God show up for you this year, and how can you build on that in the new year?
Even if 2024 didn’t go the way you planned, there’s always something to be thankful for. Look at both the challenges and the blessings as opportunities to grow, and ask God how He wants to use those experiences to shape your 2025.
Reflection Questions:
- What did I accomplish this year that I'm proud of?
- Where did I face challenges, and what did I learn from them?
- How did I see God move in my life in 2024?
3. Set Faith-Based Goals
Now it’s time to start setting some goals, but we’re not talking about just any goals. We’re talking about faith-based, Spirit-led goals that align with God’s purpose for your life. Think about areas like your spiritual growth, family, finances, and personal development. What is God calling you to focus on in 2025?
And remember, goals don’t always have to be huge. Sometimes, God is calling us to be faithful in the small things before He leads us into bigger opportunities. Whether it’s spending more time in prayer, learning how to budget, or even writing that book God has placed on your heart, let your goals reflect His direction.
Daily Tip: Break your goals down into smaller, actionable steps. It’s not just about setting a goal; it’s about creating a path to achieve it.
4. Write the Vision, Make it Plain
Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision, and make it plain.” So, girl, get that journal out and start writing! Writing your goals down helps you stay accountable, but more importantly, it’s an act of faith. When you put your goals on paper, you're taking the first step toward seeing them come to life.
You can even break them down into categories like:
- Spiritual Goals: (e.g., spending more time in prayer or Bible study)
- Financial Goals: (e.g., paying off debt or saving for a big purchase)
- Personal Goals: (e.g., health, relationships, or personal growth)
Daily Tip: Use a planner or journal to track your progress throughout the year. You’ll be amazed at how much you accomplish when you keep your goals front and center.
5. Trust God with the Process
Here’s the thing about goals—sometimes they don’t go as planned. And that’s okay! Part of setting Spirit-led goals is learning to trust God with the process. You do your part, and He’ll handle the rest. There will be bumps along the way, but remember, God’s timing is always perfect.
Keep checking in with Him throughout the year, adjusting your goals as needed, and trusting that He’s leading you exactly where you need to go.
Making 2025 Your Best Year Yet
Sisterfriend, 2025 is going to be an amazing year, but only if we stay connected to the One who knows the way. Let’s commit to setting goals that are aligned with God’s will, trusting Him in every step, and watching how He shows up in ways we can’t even imagine.
